I AM PRG! Payton Roach-Guinn.
I’m a graduate of the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD), holding a Bachelor of Arts in Visual Communication/Sequential Art. My passion for comic book art began in 1992, inspired by the X-Men Animated Series—a moment that set me on a lifelong creative path.
The journey hasn’t always been straightforward. After high school, I faced the challenge of supporting myself without a safety net, which made pursuing art school seem out of reach. Despite these obstacles, I persevered—working full time while attending art school to keep my dream alive. For 20 years, I balanced a career in retail with my creative aspirations, often putting others before myself.
In January 2023, I made a pivotal decision to leave retail and pursue my dream career as a comic book illustrator full time.
For me, comic books are more than just illustrated panels—they’re a medium where emotion and story come alive through pen and ink, expressing what cannot be taught but only felt.
My ambitions extend beyond comic book art to storyboarding and animation, which I see as the living, breathing extension of sequential art. I’ve interned at Artifact Design, Inc., where I was introduced to motion graphics and learned the essentials of Adobe After Effects, rotoscoping, tracking, and basic 3D modeling with Cinema 4D. I’m also skilled in Photoshop and Illustrator, and I’m always eager to expand my creative toolkit.
I’m excited to continue exploring new avenues in design and illustration, bringing stories to life through my art. Thank you for visiting my site and sharing in my creative journey.
